Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Photos.KRD ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

What you give us

To create an account we ask for a username, a password, and one way to reach you — either an email address or a mobile number, not both. Your password is never stored as you typed it; we keep only a one-way cryptographic hash of it, which cannot be reversed back into your password.

We use your email address or mobile number to confirm the account belongs to you, to send one-time sign-in codes, to let you recover access if you forget your password, and to send two-step verification codes if you turn that on. We do not send marketing messages.

When you upload a photograph we store the image together with the title, description, location, and category you provide. Uploaded images are re-encoded on our servers, which strips the hidden metadata that cameras and phones embed in image files — including GPS coordinates, device identifiers, and capture timestamps.

What we record automatically

To keep accounts secure and to detect abuse, our servers keep a record of activity on the site. Each record can include:

  • your IP address and the general type of browser and operating system you use;
  • which pages you requested, when, and whether the request succeeded or failed;
  • sign-in attempts, including ones that fail, and changes to your password or security settings;
  • basic display characteristics reported by your browser, such as window size and time zone, which help us tell a genuine visitor apart from an automated attack.

These records are used only to operate and protect the service — investigating suspicious sign-ins, blocking abuse, and diagnosing faults. They are not used to build advertising or marketing profiles. We keep them for as long as they remain useful for security, and remove them when they no longer are.

Separately, you can review and revoke your own active sign-in sessions at any time from your settings.

Others who handle your data

We keep the number of outside parties to a minimum. Where we rely on one, they act on our instructions and only for the purpose described:

  • Messaging provider — if you register or sign in with a mobile number, that number is passed to a specialist messaging service so it can deliver your verification code by SMS.
  • Email delivery — verification and account emails are sent through our own mail service on the photos.krd domain.
  • Web fonts — the typefaces used on this site are loaded from a third-party font service, which means your IP address is visible to that provider when a page loads. It sets no cookies.
  • Hosting — our hosting provider stores the site's files and database on our behalf.

What is public and what is not

Public: your username, display name, biography, social links, approved profile picture, and approved photographs, along with their titles, descriptions, locations, and view and like counts.

Never public: your password, your email address, your mobile number, your verification codes, your sign-in history, and the security records described above.

A profile picture awaiting review is visible only to you and to our moderators until it is approved.

Your choices

You can change your display name, biography, links, and profile picture at any time, and change your password from your settings. You can revoke any active sign-in session. To ask for a copy of your data, correction of something inaccurate, or deletion of your account or an individual photograph, contact us and we will act on it promptly. Deleting your account removes your profile and photographs from the site; limited security records may be kept where we still need them to prevent abuse.

Children

Photos.KRD is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes and contact

If we make a significant change to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions about your privacy can be sent through our contact page.
